I was looking at fuel pumps and wanted to go with motocraft, i was shocked to see that it was $587.99. A spectra premium pump was $99. I understand that there is a 2 year warranty with the motocraft, and only 1 year with a spectra but does that really justify the cost or is the motocraft pump is THAT much better?

It seems that everything nowadays is a gamble.

How long did your current OEM last you?

Will a new OEM last as long? Don't know it's a gamble.

The way I look at things, is how hard is it to replace again if a cheap one is installed and it fails.

Even high price new ones fail.

If money is tight grab a cheapie from Ebay (Global) if you aren't in a pinch go with what is comfortable to you.

I realize my answer does not give a definitive answer but I don't know all your specifics.

Not sure where you got the $587.99 price, dealer maybe???

Motorcraft fuel pump for Ford Ranger Extended Cab 1991-1997 should run $310-$360 on line.
Still not cheap, but not $600 either

The price came from oreillys, I've always had good luck with motocraft parts and generally spend a little more for them. Just not use to that much of a difference. I'm sure i could find one cheaper through eBay but just don't have the time it takes for it to get here. So cheap pump it is.
