Hey guys. I've been looking around for what I want my next truck to be, since I'm planning on selling the Ranger. I was just wondering how well a carseat fits in the back of a supercab F150? Figured someone on here must have one and a kid. If it doesn't fit too good I might have to go for something different, since I don't like the look of crews. I might be able to deal with a sport trac though.

I'm talking about this style of truck.

Let me know. I don't plan on getting a long term loan on a vehicle I'm going to have to sell to make room for kids in a few years anyway.

kids? selling the ranger???
dude stop smoking that jb weld stuff.

No kids, but I think if you could slide the seat ahead you would probably be ok. I am 6'-3", so my seat is kind of intruding on the legroom of the seat behind me. It seems like most trucks at least have a split bench, so you would have room for at least one little screamer if your significant other isn't really tall.

They have anchors back there for little kid seats, so it must be able to work. There is a switch to disable the passenger side airbag if you need it as well.

As for the truck, I have yet to meet a truck I would trade it for. :icon_thumby:

One plus for the Supercrew and Stepside, the beds are fiberglass. A recent development in my area is the lower front of the beds rusting... which makes me nervous. Also check the bottom of the doors for rust, it is cheap to fix if caught early.

Well, I don't need four vehicles. And since the Zx2 has the least miles and needs the least amount of work I'm going to stick with that one. It also gets the best gas mileage. The ranger is beat, I'm debating parting it and scraping it instead of selling it. The jeep would be a big payday since I only plan on having around 200 into it, including purchase cost, and the Nissan just needs to go because all it's doing is taking up space and rotting. There isn't really anything I can do with it, and I'm sure someone wants a low mileage (80k) perfectly running 4x4 Nissan, too bad the frame/body is shot.

As for kids, it's not an immediate thing. Two or three years, maybe. Five or six, definitely.

I'm 6'1 and she's 5'6. But I like sitting closer to the wheel because it tires my arms out if I'm too far back, so I sacrifice my leg room. The rust thing was another big decision maker for me, it's part of why I want a stepside. Most of the 97+ F150's I've looked at have had that infamous bed rust. I'll probably go to another state to get the truck, unless I can find a purely rust free one here. I only drive my trucks in the summer, and I like having a rat for winter. Mostly since I know I will always lose the rust battle. My zx2 will probably be rotted away by next summer. It already has holes on the underside, and almost everything is rusted beyond recognition. I even have to replace my oil pan, at less than 90k, because of rust.

What engine/trans does yours have?

Hows the gas mileage on that?

Keeping in mind it has 3.31 gears...

With 255/70-16's it would get get about 12 city and 17-18 hwy (55 is its sweet spot)

With 255/75-17's, it is about 10 city and 15 hwy. I really need to regear it...

My neighbor has a 2000 f150 extended cab. They have 3 boys ages 6-1 and the whole family fits in it.. not sure how comfortable they are, but they fit. And they've got boosters and car seats. Even the infant seats. So you'd fit, just not sure how comfortably.

A friend/ former co-worker has a 99 F-250 with the same cab/doors set-up. He bought another car seat and leaves in the truck since it's a pain to take in and out. Other than that, I don't he has issues.
