hello i purchased a 92 ranger today and it it will not start i done some searching and tryed a few things but no luck heres my problems 1rst fuel pump does not come on with the key so i ran a straight wire to the battery and it comes on and undid the line on top of the tank to make sure it was pumping and it is i checked the valve stem on the fuel rail and very little fuel like a dribble if that much i can spray carb cleaner in the intake and it will crank every time and run for a few seconds then die any suggestions would help thanks

fuel filter most likely

the inertia switch on the passenger side floorboard where their left toes would be, that's the main thing I can think of

I think you have a fuel pump relay and a fuse, check those.......the fuel pump relay might be under the distribution box but i am not sure....

update i changed the fuel filter and fuel pump relay and checked the interior switch even unpluged the interior switch and jumped it the fuel pump still does not come on with the key, but i am getting fuel to the fuel rail if i staight wire the fuel pump to the battery but it still will not crank i also checked every fuse inside and under the hood they were all good

also there are 2 other relays by the fuel pump relays 1 has a brown base and 1 has a black base does any one know what they are

I don't know what the other relays are for. You want to check for power at the ineria switch. Don't forget the fuel pump only gets power for a few seconds once the key is in the run position. So check one side of the switch for power right when thekey is turned. If you have power then there is an issue from the inertia switch to the pump

update i got the truck running it was the brown based relay i think its caled the eec relay and it runs damn good thanks for everyones help
