Sorry, if this question has been asked and answered before but I got a really good deal on a '92 4.0L Remanufactured Long Block. I am wanting to install this in my '95 Ranger 4X4 with auto trans. Talking to some local people, I am getting conflicting information as to whether it will work.

I am hoping someone here can give me a definitive answer and what all would be entailed with the swap. Or perhaps steer me towards a link with the information and details.

Thanks

It is my understanding that the long block for all 4.0 OHV engines are basically the same. Some internal parts have changed over the years (nothing major). To swap them between years you usually have to use manifolds and other accessories from the original install.

I understand that my 95 4.0 has 2 more threaded mounting holes than the 92 4.0 on the side of the block. That seems to be the most uncertain part of the swap...that's what the salvage yards are telling me.
