Any compatibility issues I need to worry about or is this a direct swap? I read about the different head gaskets between the FWD and RWD motors but that is not an issue I assume if I'm dropping in the full Taurus motor correct?

Thanks!

you will have to install ranger head gaskets, this is a must, no way around it. This is due to the reverse flow of the coolant through the fwd version. use your ranger accessories.

Fook... will my crappy auto trans still bolt up to it or is this a show stopper? It must be doable though since the blocks are the same across the different models, what do I need to do/purchase in order to make it all fit together?

Also, is it easy enough to put in a 5sp tranny while i have it all torn apart? I'm not a fan of the auto and suspect the one I have has a limited life span.

Your existing RWD bell should still bolt up to the donor block without issue. You just can't use the FWD bell.

There may have been minor changes to sensors and wiring harness stuff between '92 and '93. Just be prepared to pull stuff from your existing engine and swap it over if any of the connections don't mate up to your harness.
