I have a 92 4.0 v-6 with automatic out of a 2wd Explorer that is going into my 92 Ranger 2wd 2.3 4cyl 5spd vehicle. I would like to swap the automatic for a manual trans. I found a 5 spd manual trans from a 91 2.9 v-6, it looks like the tech section says the 2.8 and 2.9 v-6 manual trans will bolt up to my 92 4.0. My question is will the flywheel from a 2.8 or 2.9 v-6 bolt up to my 4.0 ? Any suggestions on other parts I may need for this engine trans swap?

Thank you

A 2.9 flywheel and clutch will fit on the 4.0 and you can use the starter off the auto you already have. It is recommended that you use a 4.0 clutch and flywheel, as they are much bigger, you will need a starter for it though. It will work just fine with that trans too.
