my truck died on me today, sputtered then die, it was act like it would try to start, until i checked the fuel pressure with a gauge, no pressure. i for some reason checked spark, the drivers side i checked with a cheap-o spark tester and got nothing. Is it possible i burned the coil checking it? the other side has spark, i checked with the plug method against metal, not using the tester. i repeated on the other side and got nothing. anything that would kill pump and one side of the ignition? also no fuel on plugs. enertia switch popped? It sounds like a click in the tank when the key is turned on but no pressure.

sorry wordy
thanks

You only get spark on one plug during starting, so that's normal.

Inertia switch (passenger's toes area) is a possibility, you can check that for voltage (both wires if switch is good, backprobe while connected).

If you can hear a click in the tank, your fuel pump may be toast. It's easiest to replace with the bed removed (6 T55 bolts and 3 little ones at the fuel filler. Wiring harness in the middle of the back, underneath needs disconnected too.

wow, i did not know about that with the dual plug! those bolt are pretty rotted and all the hardware is new on the tank, i figure it will be ass pain in the ass either way. that tank strap job sucked.

what about cutting a hole in the bed floor? its shot anyway and it has no leaks.

it's usually easier to take the bed off, 6 bolts inside the bed, 3 holding the gas filler neck to the bed, and one wire connector where the rear drivers side frame rail meets the rear bumper

don't rip the bed off just yet. could be something as simple as a bad relay. go for the easy things first. a $5 multi-meter goes a long way.
