I read the codes and replaced what it said.
Both coil packs and the ign. control mod.
and still nothing. Now it gives no codes.
It turns over but wont start.
It just shut off driving down the road.
Please help?
It is getting fuel and spark on one side, not the other (2 plugs per cylinder)
any ideas???

swap the coil packs and see if you have spark on the other side, maybe one of your coil packs was bad right out of the box.

will it run?

Check timing belt?

Just a stupid question. Driving down the road is usually when it happens.

i've seen ground issues with the ign module, try to tap splice the ground and connect it to the battery. its been a while, i can't remember which wire

only one side of the engine sparks when cranking, that is completely normal.

I would suspect a timing belt

Smart scott. =] learn something new about these trucks every day. Have you solved your problem wolf?

Thanks for all the responses. I have been working on new brake lines on my 93 Ranger, now that I have that one up and running I'll tackle this one.

I did not know that only one side sparks when just cranking. weird.

I am worried about the ign. mod wiring and grounding. Tried to get a new pig tail for the top plug cause it is kind of shaky, but the dealers told me it is discontinued...WTF???

It wont run and yes, it just died driving down the road.
I tried to get the timing belt cover off while it was on the side of the road, but it looks like a lot more has to be removed to get that off.

I'll be getting into this one in the next few evenings after work.
Keep the suggestions coming guys...I love this place, you're all great!!!

You can get the wiring harness for the ign module at napa. they sell the top and the bottom ones. search electrical connectors.
