im going to be in the process of pulling a 4.0 out of a 92 exp. soon to put in my 87 ranger. i was thinking of getting into the motor. it has 108k on it. so i was going to do a timing chain, upper and lower intake gaskets and a oil pump. i was thinking of gasket matching the intake sence having it apart. then i was thinking of a cam swap. i will be running a stick fm146 trans. any one do a cam? i see comp has some cams. im running 33's and 4.10's. i dont like to spin my motors into the high rpms. so maybe a mid range cam? comp has one with a single rate .500 lift. i think thats really high lift. what about my valve springs? can they handle that much lift, i will be putting new ones in along with lifters. what is even the stock lift cam? any one know? as with the motor i was going to keep it basic, coil, high flow daul ehx., i have also a summit racing ing. system it put in. maybe a k&n style air filter in the stock box with a snorkel. any more ideas? i drive the truck every day after work so wanna keep it a dd.
