New here people... just picked up a 91 ranger reg cab and it has a bench seat that i hate! What kinda seats can i swap in without killing room? I put some 88 ranger ext cab seats in today and my head hits the roof and im super close to the steering wheel.... any help would be great...

I will vouch that Explorer buckets hit the back window really hard, my EB BII seats are better but still not perfect.

Regular standard cab bucket seats are hard to find but I think are probably the best option. The bench is unhandy but really as far as I have yet to find anything with as much head/legroom. I haven't tried the Halo Mustang seats or anything either though...

IMO the seat thing in the library needs a big overhaul, it leaves a lot of things unsaid.

I looked there first and found it worthless...

I agree tha that page is not very helpful - it ignores model years completely. It would be great if someone could make a table.... Ranger models (years, reg / ext cab) on the left, and the top is years / models of other vehicles for swaps, and the middle is x-marks where compatible.

I'd be happy to do the work if I had the data :)

Best thing is to cut out the back wall of the cab...at least I thought that was when I did it to my first Ranger...my second best thing was to simply buy an extended cab that comes with them...

As for trying to wedge in seats, I actually mounted two seats from my retired Ford Tempo onto bucket brackets from a Ranger and found they were actually thin enough to be less restrictive than other seats...meaning I was able to find a workable comfort level...I'm 6' 6" tall and a regular cab is just not doable as I get older...not as flexible or as tolerant as I used to be...

If you can find an old ext cab in the junk yard you can grab the brackets...or a similar model explorer...I'm currently using brackets from a 92 Explorer and they fit my extended cab perfectly...and these are similar to the ones I had in my regular cab...just a bit less rusty...
