Hey again guys I am having trouble with my ranger again. After the little hickup with it running rough i had no problems all week.
Well like I said it wont start. I tried to jump it and that didnt work plus the battery is brand new. Like I said in the other post, when I drove it before the voltmeter would allways be over half. So the only way I could get it to start was to use a screw driver and connect the starter solenoid or relays post and it starts right up. So I thought it was the solenoid, I changed it and the same thing.
I kinda think that it might be the positive battery connector becasuse it is bad. This is the first thing I will change in the morning.
Well any help would mean allot
Thanks

this was happening to me, i was havin to jump the sylinoid with a screw driver meaning that its fine, have u checked ur ground straps? on my 4.0 i got a ground strap from the firewall on the driver side and it goes down to a bolt, so theres 2 bolts make sure both are tight, if ur not getting a good connection there it wont start, itll just go click click click, or mine does, hope i helped

that is a good mention.. is it just clicking over and ovver or is there no respons at all?

there is no reply at all nothing happens. i did however pump the clutch and messed with it and it start sometimes. i think it is a clutch saftey switch?

Sounds like that switch could be either out of adjustment or the contacts inside have burnt. That will cause that problem, and is overlooked many times.

ur clutch has a neutral safety thingy, theres a wire on bottom crawl under there and check for a single wire that goes to a outlet that it plugs into and should head up towards the header make sure its plugged in, it stumped me wen i got the motor put together and tryed to start it

Borg Warner clutch start switch #NS38035 $38.49 at Advance Auto. Couldn't hurt to try it but as stated check all ground wires as well as having the starter tested.

Check the red/lt blu wire going to the fender relay. It should have 12vcd with the ignition in the start position. If it doesn't, it could be the clutch triple function switch, or the neutal safety switch, or a problem with the wiring.
I would check with a test light first.

It could also be a starter problem as the fender relay acts as a current limiter, and if the starter has a problem, it could be drawing too much current. Make sure all cable connections are clean and tight. The starter also has a cable going to it from the battery.:)shady
