Well, the ranger has started it's transformation from a small compact to a lifted beastie. Got some work done today, but there's still a fair share to go.

Here she is in her pristine glory
91 Ranger build

Sizing up her stance as she sits with a 3" body lift
91 Ranger build

And she's under the knife
91 Ranger build

hmmm where to start first
91 Ranger build

things are starting to fall off it
91 Ranger build

TTB is out... mostly
91 Ranger build

getting there
91 Ranger build

a little grind here, a little air chisel there
91 Ranger build

passenger side drop is in and the brackets for the drivers are mocked up
91 Ranger build

91 Ranger build

Driver's side with e-locker ready to get thrown in
91 Ranger build

And this is where I called it a day
91 Ranger build

Tomorrow I'll finish up the front end and start on the 8.8 with e-locker
she's gonna be sweet locked front & rear! :D

Start saving money to buy the SJ brackets. Its $290 shipped from Jim's store. I wheeled the BDS brackets one time and put a hole in the diff and the bracket bent enough to rub the center u-joint. Also, It widens the track width a little on both sides compared to the SJ bracketry. Get the 5.5" Extreme drop pitman arm and the steering is almost perfectly level.

EDIT
Oh Yea, Looks Sweet BTW

Those passenger side rivets are fun aren't they? Yeah, that drop plate may punch a hole in your diff, be careful, get some extended bump stops to stop articulation before that drop plate hits your diff:icon_thumby:

Thanks for the advice guys. I do have the extended bump stops & drop pitman. I'm going to also throw some limiting straps on there as well. Do you thing if I gusseted the drop brackets & put some armor around the diff that it'll help?

Well a buddy came over to lend me a hand on Sunday and we got a lot done.

Started to install the drivers drop
91 Ranger build

Hmmmm how the hell do you install the stabilizer??
91 Ranger build

91 Ranger build

Maybe if I stare at it hard enough, I can fuse the tie rods together
91 Ranger build

Ok, there's gotta be some mention of how to install the steering stabilizer in here somewhere
91 Ranger build

Hurry up and get that damn tire on!!!! (note the lack of steering stabilizer)
91 Ranger build

Oh man, lifting trucks is sure a lot harder than clacking away at keys on a keyboard all day. I thought this was going to be as easy as cut & paste
91 Ranger build

Tightening up the tires and she's done in the front. (steering stabilizer coming soon to a picture near you)

Now sitting at 42 inches on the front. We gained about 7 inches
91 Ranger build

Whadaya Mean we gotta do the back too? Can't it be like a mullet, party in the back, business in the front?
91 Ranger build

Oh well, might as well get started
91 Ranger build

Creating the custom made lift springs for the rears
91 Ranger build

8.8 with e-locker going in

and done!

had to stop there because the u-bolts weren't long enough and I needed to get extended brake lines. We took care of that yesterday and she's rolling.

Still a few doo dads to take care of like alignment, new brakes and plumb the wiring for the e-lockers. But she's a roll'en

Hopefully getting a set of bigger beefs tonight for it.

Looks good. About how long did it take from start to finish?

Lookin good. Jesus that is a hell of a steering angle, I'd be inclined to do something about that.

you really need the SJ Extreme Drop Pitman.

Sorry, best pic i got of the front steering angle.

Over a 3 day period in total about 14 - 15 hrs

I'll have to take another look now that she's off floor jacks and see about that. After looking at mine in one of the pics, I can see what you mean.:icon_cheers:

I did however run into a bit of a snag last night when I was crawling around under it. I bought the diff's fully assembled with the auburn ected e-lockers, and I noticed that the passenger side slip shaft on the pumpkin had pretty much pulled itself out. Now the guy I bought it from said that he'd had the c-clip eliminated for easier changing of the u-joints. (the front is brand new and was never installed in a vehicle) When I did the cut & turn on my exploder, we eliminated the c-clip, but had to modify the slip shaft and machine a retainer on the pumpkin to keep the shaft from falling out. I think I might have to do the same for the ranger.

it's hard to tell from this pic, but you get the idea of the retainer I'm talking about. It's bolted on to the side of the pumpkin:

edit: I figured out the eliminator part of the equation. We'll see which path I take.

I've got them mounted as well a few other doo dads, I'll post more pics when I get them.

Cool man, I'm looking to get some LTB's myself

They should compliment the ranger greatly!
