Pretty big step tonight, onto phase two, bodywork....its been months worth of nights on the welder doing all this fab and man am I happy to be able to put that welder down.

I love this build, even though I'm not too big on bodied trucks. Always nice to see someone go completely outside the box. Interested in seeing the rest of the interior come together

my plan is to go two tone paint outside, preferably a stock blue and white scheme that ford offered in the early 90s. carry the white and blue inside the cab on dash and lower doors. white leather on Bench with blue piping. really want to try and make the whole truck look as stock as possible. going to run door handles, fuel door, third brake light, tailgate with handle, rear bumper etc.

I had an old 50's style Ford dash that I was going to put in a 89 Ranger. Can't remember what car it came out of. I sold it before I moved to Texas. I really wish I would have kept it.

Can't wait to see how this truck turns out.

Great job, its fun to do it your way. Add your own personality to the car, everyone's not going to like something but it's your truck.
I'm not into the slammed to the floor style but I'm not against it by ant means. The dash is an awesome touch and it looks great. I had 2- 55's when I was younger so I'm a little partial.
I'm only putting in new bucket seats, carpet and new custom console. My big project is installing a 1948 Chevy rear window in place of the factory window. I am also going with a custom 2 tone paint scheme, Dark metallic green bottom w/ creamy yellow on upper half.
I have a 2001 edge stepside that I have torn apart in my garage also. Check out "Christmas comes early for project outrangerous" . I'm doing a mild make over with the body, I did a 4.6 swap a couple years ago and it was time to take care of the body. Look up "Project outrangerous) for the motor swap.
I'll be following you.

Thanks for following my build man. I've never been a follow the rest kinda guy so that's why im doing everything a ford guy wouldn't haha.....stay tuned things are going to start happening as I have all this isolation time.

getting the bed situated, upper bed rails were pretty rough. had a lot of metal straightening and body work to do. I am going to run rough cut cherry planks ten inches wide in the bed floor on top of the metal framing. bed mounts in front and all the way in rear. have to make fender quarter supports still. going to spray line x everywhere under the bed floor. custom built aluminum gas tank will sit in near stock location and hang from floor framing also. everything above the floor will be color match sprayed to truck color with wood floor installed over. Had some metal repair behind rear passenger wheel and had to replace some of the fender well on drivers side. truck came with a shaved tailgate from previous owner, and my red gate is trashed, so I think im going to cut the OG ford logo out of the red one and fab into the shaved one.

got bed 90% done on bodywork, laid a coat of hi build down on it tonight, setting it to the side for now, next thing on the agenda is stripping the chassis and spraying that. should start the reassembly process in the next few weeks.

got the cab all finished up and laid a coat of primer on it tonight. doors and fenders are also in primer. time to switch gears and get the frame painted. Then motor tear down, rebuild, big cam, hi flow oil pump, intake etc..

I know this is a topic that has been posted and posted about over and over again, in a diff thread somewhere but I'm gonna ask anyway and hopefully someone can answer my question as much in lehmens terms as possible. So I am looking at running wheel vintiques smoothie steel wheels and im wondering about the rear wheels. I want to run a 15x10 with a five inch backspacing. rear in my truck is a stock ranger rear that came in the 4.0 liter five speed model. my truck is body dropped and I need to get that wheel to tuck under the bed without hitting. I can always trim the metal where it rolls under. but with that does anyone know if I will be able to tuck them in rear? I want to run a 15x7 with 4 inch backspace in the front, I know im gravy there. just not sure about the rear.

Crawl under there with a tape measure and see how much space you have behind the tires now. If you know what your current backspacing is (around 4"?) Add an inch or two and see if it would hit anything. Chances are the springs are the only thing close and I bet you have the clearance there. Or get some 1" or 1.5" foam sheet and hold it up against the back of the tire and see how close it is to everything.
