Will a trans out of a 98 with the same specs fit this truck..guy that I'm geting it from said it would..called junk yard and they said 97 was the latest..checked the guide and it says 88 up..

it will technically fit the engine and drive shaft, but the clutch disconnect will probably be slightly different (changed in '92) and there won't be a place to plug in your speedometer cable

So it will work just no speedometer
