I have a 1991 Ford Ranger XLT 2wd. 2.3 4cyl 5-speed manual transmission. The production date is 5/91. I have found the coolant temp. sensor in the heater hose that goes from the heater core to the thermostat housing. I am looking for the connector that plugs into the coolant temp. sensor. I have been looking through both Haynes and Chilton repair manuals in the wiring diagrams. So far I can't find what I am looking for on my truck. Has anyone else come across this problem. I am wanting to get this fixed so the CEL will go off and the DTC codes will go away. If anyone has information or pictures that might help me with this problem I will be grateful. Thanks

If I understand, you have a sensor embedded in a heater hose.

I have never seen that, and doubt that it would be the CTS for the engine temp sent to the computer. That sensor would be mounted on the block, head or intake.
You may have a sensor used at some time to operate electric radiator fans, or it might be the coolant cutoff valve some have for summer operation(keeps the heater core cool in summer by blocking flow)
You might get a more exact reply if you posted a picture.
The older models had the sensor mounted near the injector rail, more or less engine center front to rear, above the lower intake manifold.
The gauge sending unit is mounted to the side of the block, near the oil filter.

I know my 93 had in the same spot( Inline to the coolant hose to the heater core). The plug should be right there, I've seen people tuck in into the radiator support while repairing something and forget about it.

I got my 94 tore apart but I think the plug is in the coil harness. It is the part of the harness that goes across the front of the engine at the valve cover. I can take a picture tomorrow after work. There are 2 sensors the other one is on drivers side near the fire wall screws into the engine.
