Hey all,

I just picked up a sweet little 2.9 from a local wrecker, that is going into my 86. My question is will I require any other replacment parts as the engine is from a 91? The wrecker showed its a match, but was unable to confirm whether the computer needed to be swapped from the 91 as well, or it they are indeed identicle?

I look to install it this week, and am just trying to figure out any headaches ahead of time.

Thanks

The only things different are that the '91 won't have provisions for
the EGR that your '86 has AND it'll have the smaller throttle body.

Which means I should be able to remove it..... right???

As for the throttle body, I have the one off of my 86 that I had been thinking of swapping in, but is it really worthwhile to swap it onto the 91 engine? If it is what would the benifits be? A little bit more getup would be the obvious, but my curiousity would be how much more? And would it hurt or improve my mpg?

Easiest thing to do would be just swapping the whole upper intake from the '86 on to the '91 engine.
