My stand by vehicle, always started and ran great, 1991 4.0 manual ranger has thrown codes 67 and 85. I don't feel an urge to get excited over the 67, it's just a position switch for the trans. The canister code, 85, has me curious if it could have some negative effects on drivability and notable fuel consumption.
My dad was driving it to work last year and it started consuming fuel rapidly, developed a severe misfire which has degraded to a slight intermittent miss after spark plugs/wires changed. He quit driving it.
Currently has a misfire/stumble off idle and intermittently during full load such as uphill acceleration or maintaining speed uphill in 5th. Exhaust smells pretty rich, I've swapped the solenoid valve next to the canister with one (less miles on it) I had sitting in a wrecked 92 explorer.
