i am pulling the auto tranny in my '91 ranger and i have everything undone and ready to remove except the dip stick tube. is there a trick to getting this thing out? i cant seem to grab it in a way to pull it straight out. thanks

i might add that it is still in the truck.

try twisting it back and forth and pulling

well i got it. i am doing this without removing the exhaust and it kept me from being able to access the tube down near the tranny. i pulled and wiggled the tube by grabbing it from under the hood but it would not come out. the tube sticks into a short tube which is attached to the tranny. this short tube is angled forward towards the front of the truck so pulling up from under the hood was doing no good. i ended up removing the pass. side tire and shoving my arm into the small notch in the inner fender and getting to where i could grab it from there. anyway this worked but my arm is scraped, scratched and bruised from getting into such a tight area. not fun but i got it.
