91 A4LD into an 86?

Just a quick question, I have found an ad for a rebuilt A4LD out of an 91 Explorer, will that work in an 86 Ranger 4x4. I believe all the A4LD were the same, this one has the 2wd tail on it and I believe that I can swap the tail end off of my worn out 4x4 unit end. Just want to ask if anyone has real experience with this kind of swap, Thanks!
