ok ive been looking for awhile i followed the oil separator from the separator itself to the intake and there is no PCV valve there...any ideas? The diagram shows it coming off of the back side of the drivers side where the crankcase vent hose is but thats no there like it is in the diagram..

If it's like my 94, it does not look like a traditional PCV like you'd see on the shelf at an auto parts store. It's directly in-line with one of the hoses, the two ends just pull apart and you'll see the valve between them. Seems to me that it's green, but I don't have the Ranger today to check. It's definitely hard to find the first time.

haha thanks man i found it it was covered in oil a dirt couldn't see it...your right that is hard to find the first time..

i have a 94 and i cant find it for the life of me..can you be more specific as to where it is located relative to some other engine parts/hoses? ive looked all around the oil seperator, manifold, plugs on drivers side. also tried tracing hoses.

look for two different size hoses coming together in the area directly behind the intake manifold where the upper and lower bolt together (like between the intake and firewall), the hose adapter you see is the PCV...

ok so the valve that i got from the store that has 2 inlets...I have to just pull off the rubber inlets and put the rest of it "inline" with the hoses? Its hard for me to see. I actually found the hoses, and they were apart when I found them. (vacuum leak i suppose).

yep, just pull the end off.

when they fall apart it's usually the big end that falls out so it wouldn't be a vacuum leak

ok thanks, yeah big end fell off. But im still leaking a couple drops of oil a day, guess it wasn't the pcv. Seems to be accumulating where the tranny meets up to the pan (rear main seal?) Thanks for the help.

it could be that, or your oil pan is just loose... grab a 8mm or 5/16" socket and a few extensions (1/4" ratchet and extensions would work best) and go fiddle with some bolts. Loosten the two lower tranny bellhousing bolts first since they thread into the pan (1/2" or 13mm)... also check the tightness of the front seal housing, it's either the same 8mm or some 10mm fastners... they're easy to check and are sometimes the problem area
