I picked up a 1990 2wd 2.3 5 speed Ranger a few days ago and found some of the wires had been cut. I fixed all of them except for two, and I can't seem to figure out where they should go. I've looked at some wiring diagrams and connector locations, but I just couldn't figure it out. I do know it's one of the connectors that's supposed to be mounted on the driver side inner fender. The truck won't start with the key, you have to jump the relay under the hood, and I'm thinking one of the wires has to do with the clutch safety switch but I could be wrong on that entirely.

Here’s that plug for a manual trans . Looks like the neutral safety isn’t hooked up ? Hope this helps.

Alright thanks, I appreciate the help. You think you could send a pic of that whole page?

Here’s that side of the page . You can get the factory diagram at faxonautolit . They are still showing 3 , they are $19.00 plus shipping . I can send the other 2/3 s of the page if you want it .

Probably isn't a neutral switch on a 90 manual. Should have a red/light blue from clutch switch to starter relay. You want 12v on that only when the key is in start AND the clutch is pressed.

For a manual, there should only be a few wires there:
Reverse switch (2 wires)
Oil pressure switch (1 wire)
Oil level switch (1 wire)

In that same year (1990), are the wiring differences between the 2.3 and the 2.9 monumentally different? How much help can a guy with a 2.9 engine give? I have all the same connectors stapled to my inner fender liner and a quick look at em says I have 5 wires coming out of each of those 2 connectors and the wire colors look "the same" (quick look, I didn't study em deeply - he has some really short stubs to try to guess colors off of.)

Here’s the 2.3 plug . Hope this helps .
