90 ranger 4.0L stalls when put into drive?

Vehicle stalls when I put it into drive? When I put it into reverse its fine. Also the truck seems to be running quite rich.

i just got my ranger running right, did the same thing, and was running rich, i replaced all the plugs, o2 and cleaned the MAF and that did the trick for me. How does the truck run, mine ran like crap and hesitated alot

I just cleaned the MAF with electrical cleaning spray and also noticed that the friggin exhaust pipe was completely bent in so I pulled out the grinder with cutting disk and massaged the exhaust pipe off before the muffler, and now its running perfectly fine. Please note the entire drivetrain is going into my 1977 Triumph TR7 that I originally converted over to a 1977 German Ford Capri 2.8L v6 and drivetrain about 10 yrs ago. I bought this truck along with a 1987 ranger with rebuilt?? 2.9L v6 for a grand total of $300 canadian dollars both of the bodies are rust buckets!!! Not bad!!!
