I have a 89 4x4 ranger with 2.9. And im going to eventually lift it and change out axles and change my front axle to a straight axle. and i cant find a 8in lift. do they make one and does anybody have any comments about them?

There are no kits so to speak.

You will be piecing together parts to go with SAS.

You will most likely end up with at least 6", but more like 7" or 8" of lift just because of the nature of RBV and clearance issues.

I'd probably go with Early Bronco D44, radius arms, buckets, coils, and high-steer.

hey sky jacker makes up to 8" lift but you run into aliment issues im told but can go with a 6" and then go put 8" coil under it

If he goes straightaxle, the steering and alignment should be easier to deal with at 8" of lift, though that still leaves the question: "Why so tall???"

At 6" & under, you shouldn't need the straight axle (though a '89 would have the D28 so at minimum a D35 would still be needed)

Would you still have the alignment issue if you went with a six inch suspension lift? I plan to also upgrade my dana 28 to a dana 35, i have the same year 89'

No, not nearly as bad. With a 6" lift (Skyjacker brand) you net around 4.0"-5" of actual lift versus stock, and its very drivable and very much more alignable. Plus the steering is way easier to nail correctly at a lower height. I personally don't recommend any TTB lift height more than 5.5" of true lift, if you need or want more than that, I suggest a SAS.

I have 6.5" of lift and while it aligns well, the steering will never be perfect (and I have gone to great lengths to try and make it perfect). What I settled on was a nearly bulletpreoof setup with a trade off for a little bumpsteer.
