last saturday i started up my truck, was shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear then the truck shook and died. check engine light went on and wouldnt start back up. had full tank of gas and battery was not discharged. wouldn't start after that. i basicaly have to floor it when starting it now beacuse it seems i'm not getting fuel to the motor.

i changed the fuel filter and i'm thinking it may be a bad fuel pump- but it was replaced last year. i will do a fuel pressure test this weekend, but anyone else may know what this is problem may be?

thanks,

-dave

have u checked the interia switch to reset it? the way i done mine was cut the plug off an used a butt connector an hooked them back into each other.
its on the pass side right under the glove box on the firewall its black with a white button on the top of it

Might be a simple relay that is bad.
the inertia switch is there to shut fuel off in the unfortunate event of a accident, so gas isn't spilling creating more of a fire hazard.

by-passing the inertia switch temporarily is fine to help in figuring out what is going on, just not a long term solution.

good to know. i'll check the switch and relays to see if anything is bad!

thanks,

ok, well i've tested fuel compression: fine. system is running ok. not lean/rich. problem is when going into gear... the truck just dies. it struggles to power and vibrates a hell of a lot and just dies. has trouble firing up again? i have to floor it just to get it to rev up.

bad alternator? its dripping water for some reason, but its got a new water pump. all fluid levels are good, battery test ok, electrical system ok. but just dies on me and wont start up?

any thoughts?

determine what is missing...gas or spark when it goes into its fits

considering that it happens when shifting....wonder if the safety neutral switch is compromising the connection??

have you tried to get codes yet?
