89 ranger SAS build


1354m would be great... but HARD to find...

yeah me to.. i've only found one ex that had a Manual in it and it was stripped already. so..
 
the M's are out there. I picked up one for free out of an explorer sport. and i know there are two sittin up in the scrap yard. i'm debating on pickin one up so i can start buildin my doubler.
 
I would so take your 89 off your hands and turn it into a DD and my current one into a play truck. It wouls still have a d30 put under it though. I would keep your 89 fix it and scrap the newer one or have one as a DD and other one as a wheeler.
 
keeping the 89 is out of the question now. My 89 has problems. The frame is bent from previous owner. Rear cab mounts are gone. Radiator support is completely gone. Driving it the whole cab squeeks from the problems.

It just makes more since to just swap parts to the newer truck.
 
parting out the 89. Anybody want anything off it? Only parts i will keep is the drivetrain except the motor.
I will pull all the good parts from it and scrap the rest. Want something, make me an offer.
 
What rear end does the new truck have, an 8.8 or 7.5? Ya Im thinking about the gears in it or the entire rear end, if your niot swaping it into your truck if it has the 8.8 but not sure yet on if I need it or if I can get away with what I have. Also the dash, if it has the newer style (dash and colum swap).

I hate to think that its going to finally put to rest being an extended cab but now having a gf that has kids, I have to think of more along the lines of an exploder (SUV) then another truck right now as my next vehicle.

So from the looks of it, another 2wd to 4wd conversion, cant wait for this to start and watch the build thread, make sure to take a ton of pics for all of us.
 
it has the 8.8. I might use the 7.5 for now untill i get the 8.8 regeared.
I will make a new bild thread and take tons of pics along the way for everyone to see.

Dont know if u want the dash it is all cracked.
 
The 8.8 would be the best choice for the truck. I know where a blue dash is that is in an exploder that is flawless, may grab it. Now that it is warming up out, I can start doing work to mine.
 
Been busy today. I almost have the truck completely torn apart.

why does that t-case look like a 1354m ? I thought all the 1350's were slip yoke in the front?
 
Thats because it is a 1354, he has the M05D tranny behind the 2.3.
 
its a 1350 that came from a stx model. They had the fixed yoke because of the factory 2" lift. That way they could use a double cardan driveshaft.
I believe they made them in 88 to 90 before the 1354.
