89 2WD ext.Cab XLT. Want to swap my A4LD for the M5OD-R1HD... is it possible? Is that a good choice of manual?; and if so, what would I need in all to make the swap? Any information would be appreciated. I have gone through two A4LD's, and in my opinion are a throw-away trans. I am looking to swap to a manual in hopes of more longevity. Thanks in advance. -Josh

The M5D is a great trans, but make sure you get one with your engine bolt mating pattern, there are two different patterns.
While you have the trans on the floor, it would probably be a good idea to open it up and check the condition of the innards. Also change the shift rail plugs away from rubber if they are not already (check the tech forum).
Off the top of my head, clutch master and slave, pedals for a manual trans truck, engine flywheel and clutch, different drive line (maybe),

I changed the steering column too. The pedal assembly was fun to remove and reinstall
