89 ranger 4x4. aka the rattlin ranger Build.. pic heavy

sorry to hear that, let me know if your selling some of your old TTB stuff:icon_thumby:

Ya all my TTB stuff will be coming out. No I never did my steering on this TTB I swapped the XJ coils in and had issues due to the steering as it is I think. It would drive ok as long as I wasn't slowing down or accelerating. It would either dive or raise up. Like it does when your toe-in or toe-out. The soft springs would just compound the problem.

I already have a waggy dana 44 with the right gears Ballistic fab makes a nice radius arm/ coil mount. overall I think I will come out cheaper with the swap.. then fixing the steering and hubs on my TTB.. plus the truck is going to be my DD for a lil bit and he strait axle its a lil better on tire wear.

Well, been a few days and a few miles since I last posted. News is I have some coil/radius arm mounts in the mail from Ballistic. To use on the dana44! The 4.0 swap is doing awesome just need to get my cruise and blower motor working right and get the A/C back in.
I know I saw a post with something about the 89 to 91 having something different in the wiring harness for the blower motor but I can't find it.

Any of you that have done a waggy dana 44 swap feel free to jump in at anytime.

Cruise control is a solid white wire if I remember right? anyone... anyone

last My idle is a lil high all the time and will surge when I push the clutch in to slow down. iac tested good but haven't checked the TPS. but maybe a vacuum leak from the lower intake deal?

Update work is about to happen again... all parts are here for the d44 swap can't wait!!

One problem I would like some input on when I did the 4.0swap I kept the 2.9 trans for the time being. Well its time for something new. I have been looking for a m5od with not much luck. " in oklahoma" I have been playing with the idea of a a4ld auto would be nice at times. Plus they are easy to find and cheaper. So the main question is, in the wiring what is needed? is it just a harness from the trans to the main or is the whole main harness different in a auto truck. I would also have to get gauges and column from a truck.

hey man, truck looks sick. I did my sas using wagoneer axles, dana 44 up front and amc 20 out back. set up using radius arms and coils. I think the setup is awesome.

Using the auto isn't real hard to do. The harness is just in the motor/trans. If you can, get a 91-94 explorer trans, as they are slightly more reliable than the older a4ld.

Thanks guys.... So I found out tonight that there is a big difference in a ranger and explorer fenders. lol more on that later maybe.

hahaha played the same game with the explorer fendere v.s. ranger/B2.
Just bit the bullet and started cutting on the only set of fenders I had with no actuall plan. thankfully they turned out just how i wanted

I just needed the "flare" part of the fender. So I didn't think it would matter. Nothing on the back side of the fenders matched. oh well

Things are going good on my dana44 swap. Should maybe hopefully have it rolling this weekend. I gotta find a taper reamer for my pitman arm. Im going to try and keep the waggy steering. As it is, it all matches up but the TRE for the pitman arm is just a smidgen bigger. Pics should be coming soon.

Ok, so here is what I got going on I have used 2" 250wall tube for my radius arms. Large flex joint aka jonny joint for the frame side and just poly bushings on the axle end. With a 7/8" heim joint in the upper tube for caster adj. Track bar is 3/4 heims and 1 1/4 125wall tube. I am going to keep the waggy steering for now. I got the pitman arm reamed to fit the bigger TRE..... Pics enjoy!

Might just add the lower tube is not complete, there with be a gusset welded on where had to bend the tube at. The one drawback to the heavy wall tube is not being able the use the bender.

i like the arms but might want to gusset the welds

. as for the waggy steering I'll get back to ya on what tre you need. brother in law is runing a 100% bolt up setup on his waggy 44. its somthing along the lines of a E-250 passanger outter 80's to 90's. but I will get you the correct information tomorrow.

I hit on all those points in my post I thought. I am useing 100% of the waggy steering I had my pitman arm reamed bigger. A person could use a f-150 pitman arm as it is the same on the gearbox side. About the arms I just havn't finished the welding in the pics.

I did my arms on my 60 swap the same way. Looks good so far...

yep I read it too fast thought it said I have to have the pitman arm reamed. anyhow for future refrance a driverside tre for a 89 E-250 will make it all come together with no modifications as well

Truck is back on the ground need brake lines and shock mounts. Im happy about most but being that its all nice and tight it doesn't seem to flex much right now. I also found out I need to move the upper spring bucket forward some.

The track bar is not fully welded, it was time to call it a night it will have some boxing/gussets added to this mount.
