nice work!! like the Truck it looks Mean!!

im in the progress of my 4.0 swap in my B2
what did you pull your 4.0 from

Well It was work on the truck sunday again after I got the rest of my stuff done. I got back to my front bumper, I didn't like part of the one I started. Out came the grinder and cutting wheel. I hacked some parts out and bent up some new. Then burnt some rods ! here it is again not much different then before but looks better to me. I still have to finish the ends going to turn them around the corner a lil bit to finish out the fender.

The grinder didn't wanna play nice and jumped out and bit me glad I had gloves on but it was one of those I should have known better things:nono:

funny you ask yes I still have the 7.5 rear for now but I just got a 98EX 8.8 today but I got a few other things to do before the rear gets swapped plus its coming around to snow time maybe but it might just happen who knows.

Bobbywalter: Yeah I know but it was an extra beam set I had and just figured I would see what the heck I could to. Main reason was to shorten the drop brackets.

Got the bumper almost done still going to add some tube and lights here is a pic I will add some more of the build but im to tired right now!

I must say new cab mounts and the new shocks. Its almost like a new truck from how it rattled and rode before. So here is the bumper painted I still need to get it pushed up and in the right place but thats hard todo with out an extra hand.

I don't know if any of you guys are running the factory wheels but the clear coating on mine have seen better days. I got the idea to strip them today so they could be polished. These are different wheels but you get the idea. Taking pics was an after thought.
This is the dull dirty looking wheel before.

After using some aircraft paint stripper the spray on wash of kind nice and clean !

Dang I forgot to add the project overkill part of the bumper. The mount/tow hooks are one piece of 1/2" plate

Ok guys I need some help. I started my 4.0 swap this weekend all was going well until I put the newer harness in the truck. So my truck is an 89 with the 2.9 5speed the 4.0 is said to be from a 92 ranger. I have a complete harness and ECU from a 91 4.0 5speed ranger so the engine part or the harness is all good with the 4.0. I thought I had this all figured out by getting the full harness from the 91. I didn't think that the power windows and locks would be an issue.

So there are two plugs up by the headlights on both sides of the truck. Well they dont match up so im going to guess my windows and locks wont work. The 91 I got the harness from doesn't have power doors and seems to be missing some wires I would need to splice in to. Have any of you guys dealt with this. I have looked in the 4.0 swap and found some wiring issues and how they were fixed I guess im going to have to get out the books and look at the things I hate the most.

Other then that I need to still go get the fuel lines from the filter up and an O2 sensor and thats about it...... I think as long as I don't run into more wiring issues

Wow I just read my last post I guess I should have slept before posting that.

So, as I said I got a full harness from a 91 ranger with a 4.0 my truck is a 89 with a 2.9. I got the new harness in my truck and looks like my only problem for now is my power windows and locks as the 91 truck was manual " why the hell did ford run the door power stuff in the main/headlight harness?" I havn't looked into the diagrams to see if the wiring for a 91 and 89 are the same yet does anyone know? If not what are some things I might need to check? I read all the swap info in the Tech section so I think I might be ok but unsure.

So where can I find the best wiring schematics other then in a Haynes= sucks I have a few good issues that I think im just going to have to pull the harness back out and start over.

Personally I have liked the origional Ford EVTMs (Electrical, Vacuum, Troublshooting Manuals). Looks like there is a 91 Ranger one on ebay for $9 right now with $5 shipping.

Just been easier for me when working on Ford wiring. I have them for all my Fords now.

I'd get one for the 89 like mine (or I can send the 2.9 engine schematics) and the 91 and just work through the wiring diagrams noting the use of each of the plugs.

I'm putting a 93 Explorer 4.0 in using a 92 computer only harness in my 89 2.9L and the only real re-wiring is going to be the computer to body connector and it's really pretty straight forward once you know what wires are on each connector.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Ya I thought I was going to get lucky and have things just plug in but that didn't work to well so... looks like I am going to have to undo alot and put the computer harness in with my body harness. Sucks but oh well. either that or I go pull the full dash out of the 91 truck. That just doesn't sound easy.
