clicking lifters shes getting high in miles and been a great ride absolutley zero bitches about the truck but the lifters are clickin sometimes worse than others question is can i adjust them?

Sounds like a normal 2.9L tick...

I've added about a cup of ATF to the oil during an oil change and had mixed results with it quieting lifters, but it can also encourage an oil leak if gunk has been blocking something up (usually it'll be the valve cover gaskets).

Not sure there's much else that can be done aside from tearing things down.

I was thinking about ATF to clean things up ( which i have never done) with the oil changes my guy at the autoparts store recommended marval mystery oil saying it might be a sticky valves which is understandable with the miles.
Thanks for the input.

If memory serves me correctly, the reason the valves tick in the 2.9 is because the oil holes in the lifters or something like that are too small, an when you get enough crud in the system, it plugs 'em up. Doesn't really hurt anything, just makes noise. ATF is sometimes enough to clean out the crud and quiet things down. It'd prolly also help make sure the valves don't stick. I don't trust those oil additives, personally.

Oh, yea, BTW, if you're running Fram oil filters... do your engine a favor an stop runnin 'em. They can contribute to the problem. I run nothing but Motorcraft filters in my trucks (wal-mart has them pretty cheap).
