Oil pump gone! Do I have to pull engine to change? How much $ is this going to do me?
 
i had to pull the engine to put a oil pan on,manifold gaskets,cluch,pressure plate,trowout bearing,and a flywheel.cost me $500 cash

If memory serves? It's possible to do it in the truck. (I've got the 89 2wd also...I've been considering replacement of the oil pump and screen for a while).

Normally undo the motor mounts, remove the disty..(it could nail the firewall), jack the engine up. Drop the pan enough to unbolt the pump inlet screen. Once done the pan should remove--and then the pump. Reverse to install.

This is going off memory only!! Shop manual will be your best friend for this one.
