So I kinda bottomed out my rear main seal, instead of keeping it flush with block. Has anyone done this, will it be ok, or should I rip it back out, and get a nnew one tomorrow? Thanks for any help, I kinda need this done tomorrow, but if I fudged it up, it is was it is, I guess.

go get another one

I have placed seals at different depths because the shaft they were sealing had an obvious groove at the original depth. Look to the shaft to see if the seal will indeed seal the shaft.

After I pulled it out, there is a place where it bottoms out on a lip, so it would have been fine, but it's a lot of work just to have it leak. Thanks for the replies.
