Ok I want to put a one piece drive shaft in my 89 super. I seen the tech article about doing it on a 4wd but what about doing it on a 2wd. Any one done it?

No, but I was surprised to find an aluminum one-piece ds in my (new to me) 2000 2.5 SC. And even with the 7.5 axle, it uses the larger bolt pattern. I think that's the only gotcha you might find. Just reuse your old end with the smaller pattern and the appropriate u-joint, even if you have to use a conversion, like those at the end of this article (don't know if you do or not).

First off, read these articles:

I did the swap on my 95 2wd 5 speed supercab last fall. I bought one off ebay from a guy in PA and he swore it was from a manual trans, turned out to be from an auto. (BTW, anyone having a need for it, I still have it)

After getting the correct driveshaft from a JY two counties away, it was a simple bolt on installation. I did remove the center bearing carrier support and the crossmember that it attaches to. Due to mine being a newer model year, the driveshaft and the axle pinion flange had the same bolt pattern, so I didn't have swap parts like you might need to.

Also, not that you need to know this, but here are the FORD part numbers and info for the 98+ Aluminum shafts. I apparently researched this a bit too much last year:

126" wheelbase Man. Trans:

Part # F87A-4602-NB 64" weld-to weld 28 spline Slip-yoke

126" wheelbase Auto Trans:

Part # F87A-4602-PB 60" weld-to-weld 24 spline Slip-yoke
