wondering if any body knows if there is a difference in front springs on a stx high rider. Would a aftermarket 1.5" or 2" front springs work. thanks for any info.
I would say that your idea is correct, use a 1.5 to 2" lift spring. In the following link, post # 25 you can see a '87 stx hi-rider and a '91 stx spring. http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79003&page=2
They aren't side by side but counting coils shows a difference, and 1.5-2" seems about right.
Spring towers are the same. The shocks I pulled from the '87 stx hi-rider were the same length as regular, but I think they were replaced like that as you can't seem to get shocks specifically for the hi-rider. I would get the collapsed and extended length measurements from your truck and order for those measurements.
Good luck,
You can get shocks specifically for the hi-rider. They are not easy to find but they are available. I used Heckethorn shocks on my 89 STX that were specifically for the hi-rider suspension. I don't know if any other company makes them for the hi-rider. I stopped looking when I found those.
