Sooooo... I went to McDonalds here in town which is right next to a Ford Dealership and a Transmission shop. And then I saw it again. The little 88 BII sitting in the grass. Been there since I used to work at the dealership in 2005 has a bad tranny.

Then after reading the thread on 4 door rangers an idea creeped imto my head. I have two 86 scrap rangers and one is a LWB one. I thought about cutting the BII off behind the back seat, lopping the back cab off the Ranger, remove the jump seats and welding them together. Then move the seat back, use the Ranger frame to extend the BII and make a Ranger Ultra Cab XXLT.

I have thought about, and done some measuring for this just recently. The biggest obstacle that I saw is the fuel filler.

My plan was the just use a long Ranger frame and bob the bed. Going that route your sawed-off BII body ends about 2 inches aft of the fuel filler. Although it sounds like you are planning something a little different. I was going to cut the BII off about 1/2 an inch behind the top of the existing rear seat back rest. That is a little into the rear wheel well. It sounds like you are planning to cut it off sooner. It also sounds like you might be planning to weld the frames together where I was only wanting to have the one frame.

Yeah, I was going to stagger cut the frames so they overlap slightly then weld it together then weld a plate over the weld on both sides for strength. The Ranger has dual tanks on it so I'll have to take and mount a switch. The tank and filler on the Bronc would go. Just using from the back of the seat rail forward.

I'd pull the wires for the fuel pump and lights first before I get saw happy and use the extra length to splice so I can run the fuel pumps in the tank and wire up the tail lights on the bed. Biggest problem would be the drive shaft. I'd probably need a three piece custom shaft with two carrier bearings for it. I'd move the rear seat frame into the part of the Ranger cab I cut off, pull the jumpseats and install speakers in ther and use the rest of the space for hunting storage.

My ideal build would be to somehow get the back doors of an early 90s Explorer. Figure out how to cut it right to mesh with a Ranger body to make a crewcab.

I love these trucks. This one is from over the border in Mexico.

The issue with this idea is that the body profile above the "Belt-line" is different
behind the door latch pillar on a Bronco2 Vs a Ranger.

Add to that the roof profile is different.
