Here's my 88 ranger I just picked up for $300 2.9 v6 needs a transmission. No biggie friends with a scrap yard owner :D

Plan on build. Well I plan on doing whatever I come up with as I go.looking to build it for rock, trails,&mud. So whatever that adds up to will be the finished project. I have been welding since I was 14,also been in the autobody and custom work for a while too,air ride truck, off road vw bug, custom fiberglass work. Any ways back to the truck here's some pics
For $300 the body is straight

i need to move my post to here..:icon_twisted:

Just scored some new parts ford explorer front and rear differentials with drive shafts, gonna go get them next week or two, along with its heart transplant (357sbc)

the explorer stuff will work for a bit.

you can run the ford 208 or 205 case easy enough behind a chevy trans along with the gm 241 and rare driver drop 208 cases.

easiest being the 241 of course. those are real common.

the ford cases require a spacer clocking ring sometimes involving a few hole enlargements as a general minor mod depending on specific part used...and the chevy input shaft of course.

so if i wanted a stick, a 3500-3550/or 4500 with a 241 to get going....an auto the 4l80 with a 241 would be my actual choice....but the 6l80 is on my radar for my next trans....but they are pretty costly still.

definitely would run a 5.3 4l80 if it were me...maybe a 6.0.....

I'd run a 5.3 but I already got motor out of my old race car and trans I'm gonna get a chevy transfercase to go on my th350

Thinking hard about ditching the leaf spring rear and build a 4 link rear. Haven't had much time to do much with it except plan and design

yeah jegs and summit have some real cost effective setups, so its a worthy decision for sure on traction gains and tunability for a brawler.
