88 Ranger eletronic feed back carb

some 88 2.3 were factory carb

The box on the passenger side is the Idle Control and that was what my 2.0 came with...if this is an 88 then the original motor was a 2.0 as the 88s were either 2.0 carb or 2.3 fuel injection.

The valve cover on yours was also the way the 2.0 was configured as there was a vent hose that came off and ran into the breather.

Even the red bungee cord was standard equipment...

So it looks like you've changed the carb to a 2 bbl...but are you sure it's a feedback carb? Is there a fuel line that goes down and back towards the fuel tank or do you have a hose down to a canister at the front?

Not all 88 ranger 2.3 were fuel injected. I have a 86 originally had 2.0 I bought a parts truck all original 1988 and it had a carb 2.3 they are rare but they were available. It had the aisian carb which I have converted to weber 32/36. I'm using the 86 duraspark.

Update my son got it running fairly well only real issue was the clutch not fully working correctly. Many followed him home asking about what he had in it. A few offers to buy it. Someone T boned it on the passenger side. So he had to sell it to a yard for about 500.00. They wanted to give him less but talked up the motor now with the headers crushed up againstthe engine but was still running. So the engine I built for 2500.00 that in my pinto would out run stock turbo Mustangs and Tbirds and got 28 to 32 mpg highway with only 4000 or so miles on it is gone. BTW the accedent wasnt his fault.
