I'm seeing some yeahs and some nos here..

If I replace the entire front clip, will a 91 clip fit on a 88' ranger?

That said, any tricks to removing everything from the donor truck? Power tools, etc? The truck is in a field, so tools will be limited.

yes. entire front clip includes hood, fenders, lights, bumper and core support

most of the job requires only basic hand tools, but swapping on a different core support requires drilling out all of the spot welds on the donor (like 50 or so i think?) and eeither bolting or welding in place of your original (yeah, after you drill out the spot welds on yours too) the other option is buying a cheap repop core support to save you some work.

i thought there was a write-up, but i'm having a hard time finding it.

just need the radiator support from the 91, which is spot welded on, and the rest is bolt on, the frame horns are also different so the bumper wont be a direct bolt on

The end of the frame on a Gen1 is "closed"

the gen2 frame end is simply sliced off

The gen2 bumper bolts to the SIDE of the frame, the Gen1 bumper
mounted to the END of the frame...

Mounting gen2 stuff on a gen1 frame is EASY (Removing metal)

Mounting gen1 stuff on a gen2 frame requires ADDING metal.

Worst case is you get to slice the end 3/4" off the bitter end of the frame horn.

I knew about the spot welds from a previous post, so thats why I was considering going after the whole clip.

The core support is welded to the inner fenders, couldn't I remove the core support and inner fenders in one piece?

For close to the same cost as the parts truck I can get an aftermarket hood and core support, but I'm trying to avoid the drilling and re-welding. :)

Neither vehicle is near electric for the repairs, so....

Well I just went and looked at an 89' that has everything I need on it but the bumper.

My original bumper is in okay shape, will I be able to reuse it with the newer core support, fenders and grille?

And just to confirm, the inner fenders stay with the truck correct?
