88 Ranger 4x4 build for Street and Trails

Junk yard diving this weekend and I found this gem. A basically new fender to replace my goofed up drivers side fender.
Just needs a little paint and pin striping and it will be good as new.

Took advantage of the snow day and Went and got the ranger aligned and then took it for a little spin before it started to get icy out. Then went back and scrubbed up the garage.

Did you guys actually get anything that far south? We were promised at least an inch, got 15 min of flurries. :annoyed:

i never liked steering stabilizers. if anything is loose in my system i want to know immediately.

Ok so maybe someone can help me for this because most of my experience with bump steer comes from road race cars. I took the ranger for a long test drive yesterday and drive straight down the road now I know the camber and caster is still not right but going on uneven roads or off camber corners the wheel would sort of dart all over the place. So I know I need to play with the caster and camber more and I already have a drop pitman on but might not hurt to put a longer on on. But will a steering stabilizer help with this?

That's a very good indicator of caster being off. And yes. DEFINITELY get rid of the steering stabilizer.

Yes I was going to play with the caster next weekend. And you said to Get rid of the stabilizer?

Have you had it on an alignment rack yet Mike?

I'm not sure how the lift is going to make the angles act on the rack but I've found the easiest way to get these TTBs to run straight is to ignore the actual specs and zero the camber and toe. When I did that it put my caster almost spot on. The wheel is off a hair to the left now, but I'm still fighting some bad road crowns.

An old guy I used to work with used to say "when in doubt, zero it out".

I had it on the rack really quick about 2 months ago now and sat the toe. Caster and camber are all fubared up but I need to buy adjusters. And I was going to wait till the d35 is In to do that. I have mostly been busy with other stuff the past few months. Insulating the garage working on running heat out there. But I had some free time so I pulled the dash to fix some cracks and messed up paint.

It's back in the truck now was going to finish putting it back together tomorrow night. Will have to get the pics up. Next on the list is the steering stabilizer and electric cooling fan.

Sorry no good pics but I drove the ranger about another 150 miles this weekend. Handles really well. Need to get some traction bars. And noticed that the trans pan is leaking. So I will replace that and the filter and some new fluid. Also ordered some new toys. A set of new mirrors and window felts.

Where did you find those Mike? I am missing a mirror and about 75% of my felt too. Haven't been able to find the stuff.

That's the link to the mirror and the felts are buy the same company. The whole thing ran me like $100 witch I was happy with because my window was just flopping around.
