88 Ranger 4x4 build for Street and Trails

Looks good.

I would have put a D35 in when it was all apart, the D28 wont like "having fun" for long.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is that an 8.8? What's it out of? I'm looking forward to seeing this truck with all its sheet metal

I caint wait to see it with all the sheet metal on either lol. And no that is just a 7.5 that I got for free. I wanted the disk brakes and was going to swap them over to the ranger rear but the axles wouldnt work. So decided to swap the mustang rear in. And its about 2.5 inches wider than the stock ranger 7.5 inch. I have an 8.8 that im going to build with 4.10s in it and swap in when I do the D35 swap prolly next year. For now I just want to get the truck on the road and find out if that 2.9l is going to have to go for a 4.0l.

I have been sick for a few weeks a nasty case of allergies lol. But I got back out in the garage today and set the gears up as well as the LSD center and started on the disk brakes but relised that I never bought rear brake pads lol. So this is as far as I got for the night. View attachment 10256
Going to go back out thurs and try to get the thing back under the truck I will post more then.

Was out and bleed the brakes sat and fixed a few leaks that came up seems to be holding press pretty good. Was going to let it sit till thurs and then give it another good bleed. Have the new lock nuts for the from TTB bolts that just came in. And I put the shocks on last night. Will try to get a few pics up tonight. Won't be doing much on it till next week. But hopefully there will be a lot of progress next week because I took the whole week off work just to work on the truck lol.

Looking good Mike.

Did you find that speaker I put up under your truck bed yet?

Lol I'm sure if fell off years ago haha. I will say I just cut out the pass side fender to put the flairs in and the amount of crap that was inside was amazing. I only had a little rust but I'm surprised it wasn't worse.

I think I stuck it in the spare. I put one under the Escort and one under the truck.

Your truck was really clean. My bubble spots have gotten a lot worse. I hate being this far north because they use too much salt.

that 28 is staying long term?

damn.

i consider my rig street trail, but the best thing i did was delete the d28, safe to assume you have a pile of d28 parts for the little guy?

looks good though.:icon_thumby:

Lol nah the d28 will be long gone before it ever sees a trail. My plans are to get it running with the d28 and see how the power band is with the 2.9l. As well as work out all of the bugs that I'm sure I will have. Then I can use the truck for a junkyard raid and grab a d35 prolly a 8.8 out of a wrecked mustang. Rebuild them and swap in some gears and lockers and swap them in then do some 4x4 the following summer.
