yes, i have an 88 ford ranger with a 1bbl carb. i just bought it from my uncle. from what i can find, all the info here says that the 88 never came with a 1bbl, last year we bought a new carb for it. both were 1bbls.

my issue now is, out of nowhere, its starting to over flow fuel out of the carb. ive tested pressure, and ive got 6.8psi. i tore the carb down and cleaned it all out, no issues noticeable. what could be something to look for? or something to replace it with?

i dont want to invest a whole lot of money, or custom work to make something work. its just a lumber hauler.

upon looking into it more, and adjusting the float to specs. i noticed something. in this exploded diagram, is shows the needle pin having a spring in it. I dont have a spring there. could this be a problem??

yup,you better get that spring!!!!,without that spring the fuel flow cant shut off to the carb, cause the motor cant handel constant fuel comming into the carb, thats what the float valve is there for,the spring is part of the float valve.
