88 Mustang into 94

I have a 94 ranger with a 2.3 that has a knock in the lower end, not sure what it is yet. I also have a complete 2.3 engine from a 88 mustang I was wondering about swapping it into the ranger? I was planning on just swapping the blocks but the 94 has the coil packs and the 88 mustang has a distributor, what issues will I run into with this swap?

You will have to precisely drill 3 holes in the older block for the crank sensor. This is best left to a machine shop to do. I have done it with a hand drill but I was off ever so slightly so now my base timing is fixed at 14* vs 10* that it is supposed to be. Wasn't a big concern to me as I run 93 oct in my turbo engine.
