for some reason it only wants to top out a 3g in gear put out of gear it will blow past three???? and did all 4x4s in 87 come factory with a tank skid plate??

Also, my truck has one, it is because it is a bad thing to tear a tank open while in the middle of nowhere.

Check your ignition timing. While you are at it, check the spout connector for corrosion.

still drivin me nuts

well now im TRYIN to drive it but i cant seem to get this thing fig out it runs fine then will like stumble and run fine then die completely then come back to life and if you just hammer the gas it will try to go then die then try again an repete im goin nutz new O2 new fuel press reg new filter did fuel press test only had 30 at idle book tells me it should have 40 i can get 40 if i un hook the vac line from the fuel press reg

Have you tried getting codes??

it Maybe that the TPS has dead zones, or at least weak spots, where it isn't getting correct voltage reads.

It also could be the in tank fuel pump, if fuel pressure is inconsistant.
what about the fuel filter/s? may have 2 of them??

check those grounds...they can really mess with everything and cause irratic behavior.

what ive done

only code i gat it that it didnt get a goose pulse and the EGR is not working properly that things long gone becouse i put headers on it ive also changer the dis with a new one and the Tps fuel filter and the tank and sending unit is new where is the other filter
