87 ranger 5.0 swap

Not sure they were on the motor when i pulled it, it was just them two

Its no fun when you are putting some juice to it and those things blow out--been there.

Ill get some press in ones , hopefully setting the motor in sunday night, working 6 days a week split shifts eats up the day, and somehow i still dont have enough money lol

So i decided i wanted a five speed so i picked up a zf5, drove 2 hours and spent $140 is that a bad price? I havent seen many sbf for sale

You stole it at that price, they go usually around 3-500...

SVT

It took forever to find but after buying 4 different trannies i finally made up my mind lol

So it's been a while but with school and work I've been making slow progress ,

Made some progress, now just to put the trans on and do it 20 more times

Does any body know what size the pressure plate bolts would be for a 79 f150 flywheel, off hand?

Got my flywheel and pilot bearing on

I broke off a bolt for the thermostat housing and then broke of a cobalt drill bit in the broken off bolt, so now I have a carbide drill bit on the way but in the mean time I started scrubbing and painting parts

I have a pair of full width axles out of a 79 f150 is it worth the swap or would a Dana 35 and a 8.8 do the job? I like straight axle but for affordability and time wise the 35 would be simple also were can I get a cheap set of 4 inch lift springs

Well its getting cold but I finally got the motor and trans in for good I have all the wiring accept the alternator wired fired her up for the first time yesterday, now I just need exhaust, antifreeze, put the interior back in it, axle swap sooner or later, and a throttle cable, my stock one was junk so I got a spectra from autozone and that was a waist I need one long enough I can loop it so I bought a factory one and it should be here Thursday

I picked up a '92 explorer donor for my '86 ext cab 4x4 ranger. dana 35's with the 8.8 rear. I have not started the project just yet, (replacing/rebuilding my '76 302, C4 combo in the '87 2wd after 148k miles at the moment) but you have a nice build and info happening.
