so im trying to get started on my prerunner i got a stock 1987 ranger. i want to fit 31s anybody know the min lift in the front? i ordered some glass for the front so that helps a little... will the skyjacker 2inch springs do the trick? right now its for a face lift untill i can save enough for a camburg kit.

thanks guys :icon_cheers:

okay i would recomend a 4 inch lift and 33´s.
i used some autofab lift coils worked fine

Would you happen to know what kind of spring rate/price tag those coils have? I know their whole "Econo" kit is around $600 ± the core charge but I'm more into piecing my own kit together :D

Oh and so I'm not totally thread jacking, a 2inch level-lift in the front should let you clear 31's, just be mindful of the backspacing on your wheels.

not to be rude, but i have an 87 ranger myself that i put a 4 inch long travel lift on it. I still have to put a 2 in. leveling lift kit on the front, but even with that, i don't think i would be able to fit 33's. i could fit 32's easily though. with your app. you should be able to run 31's w/ a 2 in. lift. just be careful of your backspacing because you could run into problems with your tires hitting the corner of the fenders when you turn if it is offset too much.

so if i left the back stock it would clear the 31s?....not looking for 33s just because its a 2.9 v6.... and i dont want to re-gear im hoping with 31s it will be o.k. also who make 2 inch kits? its just going to be bigger coils right?

For a 2wd
a levling kit and glass you should beable to clear 31's. but if you romp on it your going to still rub the tire in to the firewall with the stock stubby radius arms.
EVen with a 4inch kit and the stubby radius arms your going to rub the fire wall at full bump.Thats why all the 7s,7sx beam trucks the fire wall's have "tubs" in the lower setction of the firewall.

ext radius arms cure this for the most part, as it change's the arc and soe not pull the wheel back as fast and or you can push the front wheel forward a bit.

autofabs coils are in the mid 500lbs range If i rember right.

for a 4wd, a levling kit and you can clear 31's, but once again your going to grind the firewall if your romp it etc etc like the 2wd
