87 bronco 2 price


Hard to say. What are you willing to pay? This is the problem you can put a price on anything but are people willing to pay it.

I have an 88 Bronco 2 Eddie Bauer. I've put close to $7000 in it and purchased it for $800 so close to $8000 total into it. Is it worth $8000 if I tried to sell it, hell no, nobody is going to pay that for a 28 year old vehicle that isn't a muscle car.

What you want to spend is up to you. The problem is the that bronco 2 is 29 years old, it runs and drives, but for how long? The engine or transmission could fail in it the day you buy it, that's the risk you would have to take on something like that.

The one you found looks like its in great condition and may be worth it, but if it were me I'd try to get the price down...A LOT!!! LOL
 
I was thinking more 5k for it. I guess I'll see once I look at it. Cash talks more than anything as well. The guy is really wanting to sell. Would be hard to say no to 5k cash waved in front of you when you want to sell

Well the A4LD is worth about $2400 apparently...at least that's about what it costs for a rebuild LOL. I may do the manual transmission conversion some day though, but for right now its all I got LOL.

I agree though, those RBV's with that A4LD is a major gamble, it may be fine today but fail tomorrow with no warning.

I would rather do a tranny swap than fix rust.

Luckily... I get to do both. :yahoo:

He does say it has some rust... check that out. And if you get it keep in mind someone somewhere else will buy one for a grand just as nice because the seller won't play it up as a rare survivor. On the other hand if the rust is minor $7500 is a drop in the bucket to pay a body shop to restore one.

Taking my personal feelings about automatics in general and the A4LD in particular out of it, the newest vehicle with that transmission is almost 23 years old. Now consider what they were in, Rangers, Bronco IIs and Explorers. I'm sorry, but even in really good shape a fully stock 23 year old RBV is not worth 5K.

This spring I was very tempted to purchase a BII that I saw for sale at Carlisle. It was an absolute mint 88 Eddie with manual trans. The guy wanted $4800, and I felt that was a bit high.
 
Remember, the Canadian dollar is not par. That C$7,500 is closer to $5,250 in US$

I'm not an automatic fan but the body on my 88 B2 is in pretty dang good shape, and want to keep it that way so I've been doing some body work as I get the money to do so to correct the terrible 80's paint issues LOL.

I took about $2.5k to put a takeout V8 and trans in mine... imagine if it was a crate with a reman or new trans? Aftermarket fuel injection instead of a $400 4bbl? :scare:

Crap adds up fast. :icon_thumby:

Yeah it does. I'm kind of torn between doing a 4.0 swap or the 302 swap at some point in mine.

Back to the OP's question though. I'm not sure I'd pay that much for the unknown. My 88 B2 was $800, the seller was up front with the issues, but the body was in pretty good condition with a few very minor rust spots which I've already had taken care of, the worst was the hood. May have the rest of it done in the future but its not something that needs done right away. The previous owner said up front that the transmission was losing overdrive but everything else was fine overdrive was in fact sometimes there but if you tried to accelerate once it was in overdrive it would shift into neutral...didn't want to deal with that mess so I had the rebuild done right after I got it. It runs and drives great but I wouldn't pay $5k up front for a vehicle that old and possibly have some serious mechanical gremlins hiding that will soon surface right after you buy it LOL.

adsm08 is right about the A4LD transmissions, they're garbage, but I'm curious to see how the rebuild holds up with supposedly better parts LOL...not sure how you can make an A4LD better other than removing it and replacing it with a manual transmission LOL.
