so i just pulled out my 2.9 from my 87 b ii because it was shot and just bought a 2.9 off cl. i dont know the year of the motor but it came out of a ranger auto my b ii is a manual so it switched flywheels. i was just about to drop the new engine in but seen the harnesses were different and had different plugs so what im asking is did the harnesses change through out the years and do i jus have to use my old harness?
thanks.

ended up jus using the old harness and switching the fuel rails dropin in the motor tomorrow

Might switch upper intake plenums also/use the '87. Using that harness is definitely going to be your shortest route, given you don't run into any issues with the EGR. Sounds like the other harness is possibly from a Gen-II.

Old harness sensors and computer. Swap whatever parts you need off the old engine to the new one to make the computer work correct.

alright thanks almost have it in jus trying to get the shaft from the tranny into the pilot bearing its being a bit$@
