Need to know which way to turn thermostat? Spring side toward engine or towards radiator? It's located on water pump and connected to the bottom radiator hose. Also, the engine overheating buzzer won't stop buzzing......gauge shows overheating even though engine is cold. Weird.

thanks.

Thermostats have a container with a few drops of BEESWAX in it. The beeswax expands at a given rate from a rise in temperature to open the passage and allow coolant to flow thru.
That container is always on the engine side of the thermostat. You noticed the spring that returns the opening to closed position. That spring is around (usually) the container of beeswax.
