changing Distributor Cap 1986 2.3l FI 5 speed

I replaced my distributor cap and there is only one way to put it on. Strangely, the little black thingy was in the exact opposite position as my original cap. That really shouldn't concern you. Put the cap on and make sure that when you install your wires that you ignore the black thing and put the wires in the same position as your original distributor cap. I don't know why some companies decided to change that, but they did.
My truck runs just fine using the above technique.
