i have just recently bought a bronco ll and im new to all this and don't know everything. and i cannot get it to start. i have checked spark with the timing light it has plenty of fuel pressure and is getting fuel to cylinders. i took the breather off so it gets all the air it needs. we also have spark at all the spark plugs. anyone with any advise would be very appreciated. thank you.
p.s. we also use ether. no fire

ether=bad idea. if you have fuel, spark and air you will fire. unless its outta time. i dunno what "checked spark with a timing light" means. pull the plugs, check em. if you have good spark on all plugs, check fuel. if you have fuel pressure, and you put fuel into the cylinders your flooding it. if you pump the gas this wont help either.
does it crank over? if yes than must be air or timing. also maybe check compression\
and vaccuum. could be vaccuum. check vaccuum with a vaccuum checker or try using a small propane bottle and while its cranking blow propane over all the lines. it should suck up the propane and fire...

thanks for helping

ok so far so good. i pulled all the plugs and cleaned them up and yes it was flooded. i regaped them, put put them back in checked every plug for fire, all was plugs had really good spark. now as far as the fuel pressure goes, i purged the line and it has great pressure. its turns over great and with no problem. and occasionally it back fires and all vaccuums are great to my knoledge, could it be back fireing every now and then becuase of the timing?

definitly. try loosening the dizzy cap and have someone turn it over while you rotate it back and forth. it should be at 10* advanced is typical. maybe 11. so. try again. does it fire at all?

Might want to also see where the actual rotor is pointing. It could be ass backwards in there.

Just be careful with those screws when they get nice and stuck in the distributor housing..

NEW UPDATE still having issues

NEW PARTS - starter, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rodor.

THE CHECK LIST - great spark at plugs, great fuel pressure (45psi), fuel is getting into the cylinder, good air flow, the motor is in time. then checked the compression and it was around (75 psi) which ya is low but should still run on that i think. It turns over great but still not wanting to start not to menchin it does not back fire now and there is no more hicups. tried ether again but still no fire.

Now a week before i bought this bronco a guy i new ran this bronco at my mud bog and it did just great then the starter went out and he pretty much just left it and said he would come back later to get it and thats when i talked him into buying it off of him for $400. he said this was his everyday driver and it ran just great with no problems. i asked him what it might be and he had no clue.

There has to be something simple i'm over looking but still just cant figure it out. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check, checked and rechecked they are on correctly
got any ideas it now sounds like it wants to go but just not quite there

Question

i have done everything and checked everything to my knowledge. does any body think that the computer would have something to do with it not wanting to start?

ok to end the night and start again tomorrow. its not the computer. i had a friend come over and run a diagnostic test and it was good the only thing i could think of now is drop the fuel tank. Drain the old gas and put new gas in it. drop the exghaust and see if its plugged up maybe and take off the intake manifold and make sure its clean. anybodyelse have any ideas???????????

Do you have reason to think the gas is bad (Has it been sitting for years) If so get rid of the gas for sure. I went through this on Sat. The Probe I just got had been sitting for 5 years. Had fuel and spark and it would not start. Changed the gas and purged the system and it started first turn of the key.
