I have a 86' Bronco II with a 2.9 that was running great until recently. When it warms up to operating temp it sputters and dies almost like what I've experienced from running out of gas or a vapor lock. I've replaced:
  • rear fuel pump
  • forward fuel pump
  • fuel filters
  • water temp sensor
  • fuel relay
  • control module on the back of the dist.
The guy I bought the truck from who lives down the street had the injectors cleaned and had the system pressure tested before I got it.
I did the code test but I'm not sure if I did it right. One of the few codes it gave me as it was dying was that the MAF sensor was open. I dont even find this on my truck. I had to have it towed to my house because once it sputtered and died in an intersection. Once it dies like that it wont restart until it cools down a little. I live in Arizona so heat would be an issue but the truck seemed to run at a good level and even now the temp doesnt go out of range.
Please help, I need my truck for work and I just got laid off from my good day job. :shok:

The MAF sensor is located near the passenger side firewall. Its screwed into a bracket with a plug going into it. There is also a vacuum line going into it.
